SATARA, Oct 8: The bail application filed by Udayanraje Bhosale, main accused in the Sharad Levhe murder case, was today rejected by the judge Sunil Kotwal in Satara today. Thus Udayanraje continues to remain in magesterial custody.

The judge declared that in the interest of the public and gravity of the case and the direct involvement of the accused in the case, the bail was rejected. 8220;There is possibility of tempering of the evidence by the accused if the bail is given now,8221; the order said.

Udayanraje Bhosale, former Minister of State and Bharatiya Janata Party8217;s Satara Assembly seat candidate was arrested on September 11 by the police in connection with the murder of Sharad Levhe, a Nationalist Congress Party supporter. He was admitted to hospital on his complaint of chest pain.

The defence lawyer D V Patil submitted that the eye witness Vijay Jadhav8217;s statement did not corroborate the facts. Patil said that he shifted the seriously injured Sharad Levhe to the Civil Hospital but did not inform the police about the injuries. He reached the hospital on motorbike and joined the rival group and then only complained to the police. Arguing that his client was innocent, Patil said Udayanraje was in Hotel Rajtara from 11 p.m. on September 10 to 7 a.m. on September 11. He also said that the investigating agencies had completed investigation in the case. Lawyer said that he had filed affidavits of witnesses to prove that Udayanraje was in the hotel on the said night.
