SURAT, March 8: More than half a dozen people received minor injuries on Sunday afternoon after two groups clashed in Rehmatnagar area of the city over a minor issue. The groups clashed with sticks and other weapons and also resorted to stone throwing before the Chowk Bazaar police intervened. No complaints were lodged nor were any arrests made until evening.

The clash took place at around 1.30 on Sunday afternoon at plot no 365 of Rehmatnagar Society in Nani Bahuchraji area after a couple of youths hurled stones at a dog belonging to a person residing in the area.

Teja Makwana, a resident of Rehmatnagar Society, lodged a complaint later in the afternoon and named seven people including Sanjay Suresh Tadvi, Dilip Suresh Tadvi, Yogesh Suresh Tadvi, Raju Dhankal Barawde, Govind Dhankal Barawde, Suresh Govind Bhale and Deepak Keshav Kadam, all residing at Ejan as accused.

According to the police, Sanjay and Dilip Tadvi had pelted stones at Makwana8217;s dog late last night. And after he scolded them for their act, they returned on Sunday afternoon and beat him up with sticks. But after a few people joined Makwana in the brawl, the seven accused hurled bricks and stones at them before fleeing.
