
BJP got a shot in the arm on Tuesday when Kumar Sanu sang his way into the party on Tuesday. Sanu, who was introduced to mediapersons by BJP president M. Venkaiah Naidu, began by rendering a modified version of his famous number from 1942: A Love Story 8212; Atalji ko dekha to aisa lagaa, jaise khilta kamal8230; 8216;8216;I was attracted to the party because of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the performance of his government in the past five years,8217;8217; Sanu said. In Shillong, Sanbor Swell Lyngdoh, general secretary of Meghalaya Democratic Party, a constituent of the ruling coalition, and another former Congress MP Alexanderwarjrijoined the party. 8216;8216;The BJP wants to bring the North-east into the national mainstream and I join to work towards that direction,8217;8217; Lyngdoh said.
