TASHKENT, OCT 27: Technical committee of the Federation of Asian Amateur Boxing FAAB yesterday suspended three judges including a Pakistani who were found to be biased towards Uzbek boxers.

The major bone of contention was the preliminary round bout in the 51 kg category on Sunday between Eraliev Ravkat Uzbekistan and Aizawa Kuniyuki Japan. The local boxer was declared winner 16-9 in a contest that many believed the Japanese had won.

In another controversial decision on Monday, A limusi China received a warning in his bout against another Uzbek boxer Nabiev Djurabek in the 60 kg category. Limusi went on to lose by a solitary point.

Both these decisions came in from criticism and the three judges, one each from Pakistan, China and Thailand, have been barred from officiating at this championships.

Meanwhile, the Asian body has asked South Korea to change the venue of the Second Olympic qualifying tournament from Tejan to Seoul. The tournament is scheduled from Jan 17-27, 2000.

8220;If South Korea does not send its confirmation by Nov 15, we will allot the championships to some other country,8221; said Rajesh Bhandari, India8217;s representative in FAAB.

Sixty eight boxers from Asian will qualify for the Sydney Olympics. Asia has seven spots reserved in light-fly weight, flyweight and bantamweight categories. The light-heavy weight, lightweight, light-welter weaight, light-middle weight and middle weight categories will have six boxers each.

The continent will be fielding only two boxers in heavyweight and super-heavy weight category at the 2000 Olympics.
