
NEW DELHI, MAY 19: A three-day UNESCO-ACEID workshop on the revitalisation of the Associated Centres of Asia Pacific Programme of Innovation of Education for Development APEID began here today. The workshop is being hosted by the Secretariat of the National Development Group NDG for the Educational Innovations located at the International Relations Division IRD of the National Council of Educational Research and Training NCERT.
Inaugurating the workshop convened by UNESCO-ACEID, Bangkok to consider strategies for revitalisation of APEID centres in India, the Union education secretary M.K. Kaw said that India had really progressed a lot in the field of education and the literacy rate had jumped to 62 per cent in 1997.
