They may or may not believe in numerology, but it is strange that the UPA-Left mechanism to address the Communists’ concerns over the Indo-US nuclear deal is obsessed with the number 12. The first of the two notes the Left parties submitted to Government on the issue had 12 pages, detailing 12 points. The Government replied with a 12-page note. The Left submitted a 12-page rejoinder. In fact, in the 15-member committee, the Congress and Left together have 12 members. A senior Left leader quipped, “The number 12 is after all made up of the first two digits of the agreement (123 agreement) that we are deliberating over.”
