CHANDIGARH, May 2: Tejinder Harry and Anjali Negi emerged victorious in the men8217;s and women8217;s section, respectively, in the second prize money ranking carrom tournament, which concluded here at the St Stephen8217;s School in Sector 45.

Tejinder, who beat Ramanpreet Pahwa 25-18, 25-1, to win the men8217;s singles title became richer by Rs 2100. The runner-up was given Rs 1100.

Anjali defeated Nabhi Sahini 25-19, 18-25, 25-12 to take home the women8217;s crown got Rs 750. Nabhi took Rs 500.

Tejinder Harry and Anjali Negi have also been ranked No 1 in the men8217;s and women8217;s section, respectively.

Ramanpreet Pahwa, M Tanveer Gagandeep Singh, Ajay Kumar Gupta, Rozerio, Sanjay Negi and KS Patwal are also among the best eight players in the men8217;s group.

In the women8217;s section, Nabhi Sahini, Palki Dhanjal, Saroj Chandel, Ami Wig and Bhavna Sachdeva are in the top eight.

Final: Tejnder Harry bt Ramanpreet 25-18, 25-1. Semifinal: Tejinder Harry bt gagandeep 25-10, 25-4; Ramanpreet bt M Tanveer 10-25, 25-24, 25-11.

Women
Final: Anjali Negi bt Nabhi Sahini 25-9, 18-25, 25-12. Semifinal: Anjali Negi bt Saroj Chandel 25-5, 25-9; Nabhi bt Palki Dhanjal 25-10, 21-25, 25-19.

Chandigarh win
Hosts 127 Battalion, Chandigarh outclassed Group Centre, Jalandhar 20-3 in the Inter-Battalion Punjab and Chandigarh Operational Central Reserve Police Force CRPF handball championship, which got underway at the DAV School in Sector 8 here today.

Satpal, S Raj and Samar Mal were the main scorers for the Chandigarh team.Dharam Singh was the lone scorer for Jalandhar.

In another match Group Centre, Pinjore beat 86 Battalion, Amritsar 16-12, to enter the next round of the meet.

Rakesh did the bulk of the scoring for Pinjore while Maninder shot eight points for the Amritsar.

Five teams are taking part in the meet, which was inaugurated by Yadvinder Singh, Deputy Commandant, 127 Battalion, CRPF.

CRPF kabaddi
Inter-Battalion Central Reserve Police Force CRPF kabaddi championship will be held at Halo Majra from May 10 to 12 under the aegis of 127 CRPF Battalion.

More than five teams are expected to take part in the meet.

GMS-33 win
