MUMBAI, JULY 13: Technology will not be able to replace teachers, even in the near future, columnist Shobha De said at the launch function of interactive CD-Roms by UVC today.
“I believe strongly in the need for human interaction, teachers are needed for psychological counselling,” De said, noting that computers would never be able to take on that role. At the same time, CD-Roms would be helpful for students, she added.
UVC today launched interactive educational CD-Roms on History and Geography for Std X students, based on ICSE and SSC syllabus. The launch, supported by The Indian Express, was attended by managing director of Multiple Zone India Manpreet Singh, Shreerang Rege, director of Edit Systems Pvt Ltd, and Rashmi Braganza, principal of Bombay International School, among others.
The content of the CD-Rom is a summarised account of the information in the actual text books. A question and answer database is also provided, where by clicking on the questions, the corresponding answer isobtained. The CD-Roms also have a quiz section.
