Balashankar, slams the UPA saying, 8220;No other government was so much dependant on the veto of the Communist parties whose loyalty to this nation was always in doubt. No central government in the last six decades had Muslim League as a partner and the vocal support of all the fundamentalist Muslim outfits in the country8230;8221; Interest groups in the UPA promote the national goals of China, Pakistan and the US at the cost of Indian interests, it says.
So many firsts
An article by BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad 8212; 8216;Total failure; sinister design8217; 8212; charges that the country is 8220;witnessing communal planning, communal budgeting, communal banking and communal employment8221;. And that despite terrorist attacks in Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi and Bangalore, the prime minister, under the pressure of coalition politics, has agreed to reduce security forces in Kashmir. This, despite the army8217;s reservations and at a time when tourists and devotees are being killed in Pahalgam and Srinagar.
Bad form
M.D. Nalapat writes that the government has fashioned an economic regime that is even more anti-people than the ones imposed by Nehru and Indira Gandhi, all because they need to obey 8216;Madam8217;. He says, 8220;This Maino construct goes totally against the reform-suffused system. 8220;
The Saral income-tax form brought in by Yashwant Sinha has been thrown out in favour of as many as eight new forms. The new tax forms mean that a huge volume of information 8212; private in any civilised country 8212; is now routinely passed on to the income-tax authorities, and from there possibly to politicians, some of whom are known to be close to mafias. Nalapat asks, 8220;has the citizen been given any protection against arbitrary actions?8221;
Nation betrayed
Dr Subramanian Swamy believes that part of the
reason why the UPA is 8220;subverting India8221; is because the US has damaging material on Sonia Gandhi vis a vis the Oil for Food UN programme in Iraq and allegedly illegal bank accounts in Macao. He writes, 8220;national betrayal is contained in Dr Singh8217;s government8217;s focus on 8216;inclusive growth8217;, in that the PM will ensure that Muslims will get the 8216;first charge8217; on resources. Without doubt, Christians will get the second charge, and the rest will have to make do with the left-over crumbs. Why?8221;
