Another debutant director, but this one is a Bollywood veteran, having choreographed a series of hit numbers, and even appearing in some of them.

The storyline is so linear as to appeal to a four-year-old, with a neat beginning and end, even if it descends to mawkishness and drips with too much sentiment. But both Manoj and Juhi play their parts with grace, except you wish someone had given him a better wig, and her some subdued colours: her saris are colourful silks, even when she is chopping sabzis in her mud-house in the village.

Only for those who want to see an old fashioned story told in an old fashioned way, with lots of tears on the way.
