Surgeon146;s assailant killed in encounter

The police on Friday night killed Chandan Sharma, one of the suspected assailants of noted surgeon N.K. Agarwal, in an encounter behind a hospital here. Senior Superintendent of Police Nayyer Hassain Khan said that on a tip off, the police chased a motorcyle which Sharma was riding with an accomplice. Khan said Sharma opened fire and the police retaliated. Sharma8212;a close associate of notorious gangster Bindu Singh, who allegedly masterminded Agarwal8217;s murder on November 12 for ransom8212;died on the spot, Khan said. His accomplice escaped.
