SVR college professor awarded Ph.D
Surat: Professor Dipal Arunchandra Shastri of the Civil Engineering Department of S V Regional College of Engineering and Technology, Surat will be awarded a Ph.D in Civil Engineering by the South Gujarat University. His research study Urban Form and Network Accessibility with Special Reference to Ahmedabad and Surat8217; was carried under the guidance of professor R N Shelat, SGU pro Vice-Chancellor.

Nodal centre
In a bid to improve the quality of textile education, the ministry of textile has set up a nodal8217; centre at IIT, New Delhi with the appointment of an advisory body for a period of one year. Arunchandra Jariwala, chairman, Surat Art Silk Cloth Manufacturer Association has been co-opted as a member. The Nodal centre is to identify areas of deficiencies in textile education, prepare educational software and uniform syllabi for degree and diploma-level textile education institutions, conduct training programme for teachers, set up a reference library at the nodal centre and provide documentation service to teaching institutions and industry, prepare status report on various aspects of textile education, manpower, technology, and prepare schemes for upgradation of textile teaching institutes.

BA examinations
The South Gujarat University will conduct first, second and third year B A, B Com, Diploma Pharmacy Part I and II and L L B I, II, II examinations on October 28. The university will announce the detail programme later, a university spokesman said in a statement.

Internet course
South Gujarat Productivity Council president Mahendra Kanjiwala has asked those interested in Internet Education programme, to be organised by the Council, to be present on July 29, at 4 pm on the 2nd floor of Samruddhi Building, Nanpura.

Garment meet
The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Institute Of Fashion Technology are organising a five-day worshop, beginning August 8, on Garment Industry, Design, Technology and Marketing8217;. All those interested in attending the workshop should contact the SGCCI secretary at his office at Samruddhi building, Makkai Bridge, Nanpura by August 3.

Memo submitted
Vadodara: A delegation of residents of different areas of the city and BJP workers submittted a memorandum to State Supply Minister Jaspal Singh on Sunday, demanding that steps be taken to ease traffic congestion in and around the Vadodara railway station and the S T bus stand.
