
Jadeja is Lions dist governor
Lions Club International 323 office-bearers installation function will be held on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Rajshree Hall, Navsari bazaar in which Mahendrasinh Jadeja will be installed as district governor for the year 1999-2000. Rajnikant S Chevli, chairman of Bombay Textile Market will be the chief guest. District Lions Club has donated Rs 3 lakh for Kargil fund. In collaboration with the state government, all district clubs had organised cataract camps in which 50,000 patients were operated upon.
Workshop held
A one-day workshop on Plastic Surgery Update8217;, organised by Dr Pradeep Atodaria, a leading plastic surgeon here, concluded recently at Shree Mahavir General Hospital. The workshop, held under the aegis of Association of Plastic Surgeons of India Gujarat Chapter was inaugurated by Babubhai Gandhi, vice chairman of the hospital. An operation was conducted with the help of a very sophisticated microscope which was recently commissioned in the hospital.
Suspension order
Additional District Development Commissioner has kept in abeyance the order passed by the District Development Officer, suspending Olpad group Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Balubhai Kahar. Kahar had challenged the order passed by the DDO sacking him from his post.
Torch rally
Amroli Samata Navyuvak Mandal will take out a torch light procession at 6 p.m. from Devikrupa Society, Uttaran and will pass through Amroli square. At the square the processionists will pay homage to martyrs who laid down their lives in Kargil conflict and burn the effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
New bus service
Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation has started new bus service between Buhari and Surat. The bus will reach Surat via Valod, Vankaner and Bardoli.
DEO inquiry
Vadodara: The District Education Office has begun to inquire into complaints that a reputed English medium school of the city ignored the claims of genuine students and admitted students with low percentage. Two education inspectors seized related records from the school on Wednesday. According to District Education Officer V Nanavati, the inquiry report was expected on Thursday.
