PATIALA, June 23: The Punjab Medical Officers and Para Medical Staff Association Punjab State Electricity Board has extended its full support to the striking nurses in Haryana. This was stated here today by the president and general secretary, Naresh Raj and Avinash Gupta, respectively, of the association.

Talking to ENS here, they said that they would be visiting Rohtak in this connection shortly. Both the leaders condemned the 8220;callous and inhuman treatment8221; of the state government toward the striking nurses. The leaders also expressed their solidarity with the local Mata Kaushalya Hospital Bachao Samiti.

The leaders made a request to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to resolve all the pending issues of the doctors and para-medical staff, like academic allowance and conveyance allowance. They also urged Punjab Government to increase the retirement age of its employees on the Central pattern.
