The CPI(M) has devised a new campaigning strategy to beat its opponents in Kerala.

The sound and fury of the Congress infighting, spiced with the police excesses at Mathunga and Killi, and the Marad carnage, has been packaged in a video film by CPM campaign managers.

The proposed film will focus on TV and newspaper clippings on the Congress infighting and various other socially sensitive issues, which, according to the managers, would give the LDF extra mileage.

The images of Congress leader K. Karunakaran making belligerent remarks, CM A.K. Antony receiving a pat from VHP leader Pravin Togadia and UDF convenor Oommen Chandy caught in a crossfire between the warring Congress group has been juxtaposed in the film, according to the campaign managers.

The film will also have a series of ‘‘super actions’’, including a frame of M.P. Gangadharan being beaten up by Karunakaran loyalists, and ‘‘super dialogues’’ by Rajmohan Unnithan, Vakkom Purushothaman, M.I. Shanawaz, P.T. Thomas and others, they said. ‘‘Though the clippings of super dialogues and super actions are ready, the party is yet to identify the right person to be entrusted with the job. This will be finalised by the second week of March,’’ a CPM leader said. ‘‘Once the film is made, it will be shown at the LDF conventions throughout the state besides telecasting it on the party channel, Kairali,’’ he said.

Apart from the video film, the party’s youth wing, the DYFI, will be touring the state with street plays highlighting the Congress’ inner-party squabbles, Marad, Muthanga and Killi incidents, the anti-people policies of the UDF and the NDA governments and the Gujarat massacre.

The DYFI has sought the help of professional playwrights to prepare the script for the street plays. ‘‘ Street plays and films have always proved effective in election campaigns,’’ said a DYFI functionary.
