Sugar export in the current sugar year October-September, 2003-04 is likely to fall to 1 million tonne from 1.76 million tonne exported in the previous sugar year. Country8217;s sugar output, too, is likely to fall to 180 lakh tonne from 201.4 lakh tonne in the sugar year, 2002-03. President of the Indian Sugar Mills Association ISMA, S.V. Balasubramaniam and director-general S.L. Jain said, though export target for sugar had been fixed at 3 million tonne, it is unlikely to be achieved. Also, the government has not yet come out with a special incentive for promoting exports of raw sugar. ENS
