(Photo: X/ @ToloNews) Kabul blast news: An explosion at a hotel in downtown Kabul in Afghanistan on Monday left at least 7 people killed and a dozen more injured, the Taliban’s interior ministry said.
Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said two Chinese people had been seriously injured in the explosion and a security guard had been killed in the blast which took place at a restaurant.
The explosion occurred in the Shahr-e-Naw district and the cause of the blast remains unclear.
The Shahr-e-Naw district in Kabul is considered one of the most secure areas and is reportedly home to foreigners.

Sources told TOLOnews that an explosion occurred moments ago in the Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul.
According to the sources, several civilians have been killed and others injured as a result of the explosion.

“According to preliminary reports, a number of people were killed and injured,” Interior Ministry spokesperson Abdul Mateen Qani told Reuters, adding that details would be released later.
Qani further said the cause behind the explosion was being investigated and that no group has till now claimed the responsibility of the attack.
According to Xinhua news agency, a restaurant near the blast site has been severely impacted. Those injured have been rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, the report added.

The blast in Kabul’s commercial Shahr-e-Naw neighbourhood targeted a hotel, Kabul police spokesperson Khalid Zadran said. The area houses embassies, shopping complexes, and large office buildings.
