Some years back when it came to winter wear, we had to make do with bulky shawls that came with no-fuss trimmings, unless of course you had a pure Pashmina on your hands. All of that changed when the 8220;stole8221; hit the market. Shorter, smarter and available in a riot of colours, it fast found its way into every wardrobe possible. The young and restless would drape a blood-red silk one over a black evening dress while their Moms would prefer to team it with trousers and a kurti. Since then the stole has arrived every winter season in new avatars and we are still lapping or wrapping it up. Dishing out a collection each year is city8217;s Rashi Setia who is back with her annual collection of stoles. 8220;This time it8217;s a spread of all kinds,8221; tells Rashi who brings in a smart lineup of both casual as well as formal wear. 8220;As far as colours go, expect to see a lot of chocolate tones. While colours like red and black still remain best-sellers,8221; tells Setia who has worked with Swarovski and metal work for her collection this time. 8220;Stoles are becoming dressy too. For instance with the Diwali parties now picking up steam, most ladies opt to wear a simple outfit and play up the elegant factor with a stole,8221; she says. Keeping all that in mind, Setia8217;s put together pieces with pearl and lace work as well. Then there are more 8220;jazzier8221; ones with applique, net and tissue embellishments. 8220;Velvet is completely out this time. I have used fabrics like silk Pashmina, wool, silk on silk and viscose blends as well,8221; the designer mentions. And all-time favourites like Burberry checks and those with pom-pom trimmings are thrown in too.
The exhibition is on at The Episode, 202, Sector 9, Chandigarh on October 6 038; 7.
