MUMBAI, April 7: Four persons were injured near Malad in two separate incidents of stone throwing on Tuesday evening. Seven persons have been arrested by the Borivli Railway police this morning in this connection. However, none of the victims sustained serious injuries.

According to the railway police, the incidents took place between 7.45 and 8 pm on two fast Borivli locals between Malad and Goregaon stations. In the first incident, three persons who were travelling in the same local were injured when stones hit them. While Savita Balkrishna Sopan 32, a resident of Malad East was struck by a stone just above the nose, Ashok Babaji More 33, a resident of Kandivli, was struck by a stone on the chest and Hanuman Rajput 25, a resident of Dadar, was hit by a stone in the neck region.

In the second incident which took place immediately after the first and near the same spot, Mangesh Pandurang Nalawade 23, a resident of Dharavi, was struck on the forehead. All the four were discharged after firstaid.

However complaints with the Borivli railway police were lodged only by More and Nalawade under sections 337, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 152 of the Indian Railway Act.

The Borivli Railway police after registering the offence arrested seven persons in connection with the two incidents this morning. Those arrested are Tehsin Jamir Ahmed Shaikh 22, Mohammed Ali Khan 20, Ahmed John Abdul Gani Shaikh 32, Shakil Ahmed Ansari 25, Shahnoor Mohammed Ismail Khan 31, Ismail Lala Shaikh 22, Mohammed Gavas Mohammed Usman Shaikh 22. Police said that the motive behind the stone throwing is yet to be found out as the accused have yet to be interrogated. They will be questioned so after obtaining a remand from the court.
