VADODARA, April 21: Members of the National Alliance of People’s Movements have threatened to launch an agitation Bachao on April 27 to protest against the alleged attrocities and discriminations due to various works carried out at the banks of the river Narmada.
The protest will be staged by thousands of people from various parts of the country to save the river. Dalits, tribals, women, persons from the minority comunities will take part in the rally.
The rallyists will also protest against the heavy deployment of police and imposition of prohibitory orders near the Narmada dam.
The members of the alliance have stated that the construction of a wall near the dam was a blatant violation of the government’s review of the project, as construction was prohibited. They said they would oppose the move.
