BHOPAL, OCT 6: The new state of Chhattisgarh will have its high court at Bilaspur soon after its formation on November 1, official sources told newsmen.
The decision on the appointment of the Chief Justice and other judges for the new state would be made by the Chief Justice of India, the sources added.
After the bifurcation of the Madhya Pradesh high court at Jabalpur, the sources said some of its judges would move to the Chhattishgarh High Court. Till the appointment of the Chief Justice, the senior-most judge could be named as the acting Chief Justice, they said.
However, they said there was no move for the present to have any high court bench or circuit elsewhere in the new state.
Reports received at state headquarters had earlier indicated a common high court for Chhattisgarh state and rest of Madhya Pradesh as a stop-gap arrangement for the time being.
