As the matter came up for discussion in the Assembly on Thursday, the Leader of the Opposition and Trinamool Congress leader, Partha Chatterjee, said since the matter was sub judice this could not be discussed in the House. The purpose of bringing the matter in the House was to malign the character of the member.

Mandal, however, stuck to his position and said since Khan went to Raizwanur8217;s house with 20 to 25 people after his marriage with Priyanka Todi and his name was mentioned in the last statement made by Rizwanur, Khan8217;s role should be probed. He requested the Speaker to set up a special committee comprising senior members of the House to probe into the issue.
