SNG, Central YMCA to clash

May 25: Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana SNG, Nagpur topped pool B with a 91-77 victory over Central Railway in the Savio invitation Basketball Tournament, sponsored by Killer Jeans, Colgate and Pepsi, at the Don Bosco School, Matunga here today.

SNG play Central YMCA in the second semi-final tomorrow while Central Railway will meet Bombay Engineering Group, Kirkee in the first match.Pankaj Deshmukh had a game high of 29 points for SNG. A good shooter that he is, he scored six three-pointers in the first half itself.

Forward Shrihari Garge scored 21 while guard Shatrughana Gokhale got 17 points.

For the Railway team, veteran Abdul Hamid missed many three-point shots, converting just one in scoring 15 points while Imran Ansari 16, Mansoor Shaikh 14 were the other scorers.

In another match, Chembur YMCA defeated Thane Metropolitan Gymkhana 46-42.Results: SNG, Nagpur 91 Pankaj Deshmukh 29, Shrihari Garge 21, Shatrughana Gokhale 17, Shashwat Gokhale 10 bt Central Railway 77 Abdul Hamid 15, Hamid Ansari 10,Imran Ansari 16, Mansoor Shaikh 14.
