
NEW DELHI, January 8: Six persons including five Centaur hotel employees were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly running an employment racket and arranging forged school certificates for those interested in getting job and promotion in the hotel.
Devendir Singh, senior personal assistant-cum-timekeeper of the hotel and another accused L.A. Rizvi were today produced before the metropolitan magistrate. The two 8212; accused under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code 8212; have been remanded to police custody till January 11.
The other four employees Rampal Yadav, Ashok Kumar, Girdhari Lal and Sheikh Abdul Rasheed were remanded to judicial custody till January 22.
The anti-corruption branch of the CBI who arrested the the six persons asked for Rizvi and Singh8217;s custody for further interrogation. 8220;Their sustained interrogation is required for unearthing the role of some senior officials of the hotel and others who are involved in the racket of getting forged certificates issued and providing job to people,8221; Central Bureau of Investigation counsel said.
According to the Central Bureau of Investigation, Rizvi and Singh used to arrange fake school certificates from Uttar Pradesh. They had apparently provided Rampal Yadav with a fake CBSE Class X certificate from Government Boys Senior Secondary school, Mehrauli, and got him a job with the hotel in 1977.
Similarly Ashok Kumar also procured a fake Calss VIII certificate from Muzaffarpur for which he reportedly paid Singh Rs 10,000 in cash.
The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted searches at the office and residential premises of the five hotel employees and seized a number of documents including fake and forged certificates from their possession.
The Central Bureau of Investigation says that it had received information that a number of employees at the hotel were getting employment and promotion in the hotel on the basis of forged educational certificates.
