Shape triumph

Shape, copmrising Hema Deora, Pramila Shivdasani, JM Shah and Arun Bapat outplayed Sriram-G, 56.5-0 IMPs in the final of the mixed team event of the Ladies National Bridge Championships, which concluded at the Andheri Sports Complex on Sunday.

Shape began with a carryover of 12.5IMPs and won the first two sets 31-14 and 27-0, forcing their opponents to concede the match.

In the mixed pair event, Rana Roy and Pheroza Chotia emerged champions tallying 94.5 points. There was a tie for the second spot between Bimal Sicka/ R Kejriwal and Hema Deora/ JM Shah with the former prevailing.

MRA hearing adjourned

The hearing in the contempt motion filed against Maharashtra Rifle Association MRA, its vice-president Ashok Pandit, secretary Sheila Kanungo and assistant secretary MA Torpe, has been adjourned to June 10, after the court holidays. During today8217;s hearing, the defendant MRA and the three respondents filed a reply to the plaintiff8217;s notice. The reply has denied the charges raised by plaintiff Mohammed I Khan, while issuing an unqualified apology to the court.
