Sikkim zilla panchayat head expelled

GANGTOK, DECEMBER 8: In a sudden move, the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front SDF has expelled head of a zilla panchayat and 18 others, some of them from different panchayat units of the state, for their alleged anti-party8217; activities.

SDF president and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling expelled the leaders 8220;on the recommendation of the disciplinary action committee8221; of the party on Monday last, a party release said here on Wednesday.

The east district panchayat heads8211;Bharati Sharma, Vice-President of Yangthang Gram Panchayat unit, Kancho Bhutia and Ravang Panchayat President, Chakey Sherpa, were among those expelled.

Zilla panchayat member J B Rai, labing panchayat memberkumari subba, chingthang-bermoik panchayat member M B gurug were also expelled by chamling, the release said.
