After party President Sonia Gandhi was diagnosed with chest infection on New Year’s Day, it is the turn of some top leaders to catch the bug. Among the senior leaders who have got chest infection so far are Oscar Fernandes, Suresh Pachauri, Digvijay Singh, Ashok Gehlot, Margaret Alva and Rita Bahuguna Joshi. A host of other leaders has also been hospitalised for one reason or the other. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi could not go for Jyotiraditya Scindia’s public rally at Bhind on February 14 because he was slated for a root-canal operation. AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik is still recuperating from a brain haemorrhage he suffered recently. AICC treasurer Motilal Vora and general secretary Janardan Dwivedi both underwent angioplasty some time back.
