NEW DELHI, MARCH 1: India’s Arati Venkatraman and Shruti Dhawan came through the final qualifying round in contrasting styles to make it to the main draw of the $ 10,000 ITF Central bank ITF Women’s circuit tournament at the Delhi Tennis Association courts here on Sunday.

For DHAITA’s Shruti Dhawan, it was a memorable way to get through to the main draw as she toppled the qualifing draw’s top seed Orawan Wongkamalasai of Thailand 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-3.

The gutsy Bangalorean Arati Venkatraman, not such a regular on the domestic tour anymore, stuck to her old clawing habits in her 6-4, 6-4 win against Russian hopeful Le Sueur Monique.

The other two qualifiers are China’s Liu Zhi Rong and Japans’s Motoe Uchida. While Liu had it rather easy against Indian Joy Rodrigues, Motoe walloped Austrian Tina Paris 6-1,6-1.
