AHQ Signals prevail over CISF
Last year’s runners-up AHQ Signals prevailed over CISF 57-53 in a closely contested match in the men’s section of the 39th Royal Club Basketball tournament. Jaswinder (12), Saini (10) and Albert (9) were the main scorers for Signals while Abhijit Gupta (19) top scorered for CISF.

In the girls section, St Stephen’s College beat SRCC 69-32. Nishitha Chaudhary (31) was the top scorer for the winners. In another clash, LSR College triumphed over IP College 46-31. In the boys category, Delhi Public School (Mathura Road) trounced St Xavier’s School 55-39. In another encounter, JD Tytler School overwhelmed Modern School (Barakhamba Road) 68-47.

Taekwondo team
The Taekwondo Federation of India have selected the following players for for the SAF Games to be held at Kathmandu (Nepal). Team: Female: Prajakta Mishal (Goa, fly weight), Namrata Shirolkar (MP, bantam), Neetu Chandra (Bihar, welter), Th Debanjani (Manipur, middle). Male: Sunil Sharma (Goa, fin), Deepak Rivonkar (Goa, fly), Rajendra Kumar (Delhi, bantam), Taj Mohammad (Delhi, feather), Harikant Kaushik (Delhi, light), Ravinder Kumar (UP, welter), Alok Mishra (MP, middle), Ashutosh Kumar (UP, heavy). The coaching camp will be organised at Jimmy’s Taekwondo Academy, 43, Capper Road, Lalbagh, Lucknow.

DSCL tennis meet
The Delhi Lawn Tennis Association will organise the prize money eighth DSCL Open (National) tennis championship from October 4 to 16. The events will be Men’s (singles and doubles); ladies (singles and doubles); boys (under-14, u-16, u-18; singles and doubles); girls (u-14, u-16, u-18, singles and doubles). The prize money for the seniors and scholarship money for the juniors will be Rs 4.5 lacs and Rs 5.10 lacs, respectively. The entries close on September 18 at 5 pm with DSCL Tennis, Kirti Mahal, 19 Rajendra Place, Phone 5713442.

Gold for Shimon
Shimon Sharif and Swati Sing won the gold medals on the concluding day of the Delhi State Schooting championship at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range (Tughlakabad). Balesh Devi got the first position in the women’s sports pisto.
