Teri clinch Phadkar Trophy
An unbeaten knock of 103 by K P Eashwar and a useful 50 by Pradeep Kumar and their 149-run stand for the first wicket helped Tata Energy Research Institute TERI, New Delhi beat G E Capitals by nine wickets in the final of the second D G Phadkar memorial tournament at Air Force grounds, Palam.

Put in to bat, G E Capitals made 181 in 34.1 overs. Arvinder Singh 52: 5215;4 and Rahul Dixit 30 were the main scorers. R K Pachauri 3 for 26, Sriram 2 for 35 and Atul Dhyani 1 for 25 shared the spoils. TERI reached the target in 31.2 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Eashwar struck 15 fours in his unbeaten century knock.

Eashwar was declared the man of the final as well as the man of the tournament. Pradeep Kumar best batsman, R K Pachauri best bowler, Rahul Dixit best fielder and Tarun best wicketkeeper also received awards from former Test cricketer Vijay Mehra.

Punjab zone advance
Punjab entered the semi-finals in the badminton event in the 16th Punjab National Bank All India inter-zone sports meet being held here. Punjab beat Southern Zone 3-0. In carrom, MP qualified for the quarter-finals with a 3-0 win over East UP Zone.

Other results: Table tennis: Delhi bt Central UP 3-2 to enter quarter-finals. Skipper Kapoor won both matches for the winners. Basketball: Delhi bt West UP 26-9 in quarter-final. Volleyball: West UP bt Southern Zone 15-7, 15-6, 15-7; Eastern Zone bt MP 15-8, 15-2, 15-4 to enter semifinals. Kho-kho: Rajasthan bt Southern Zone by one innings and four poinbts to enter semifinals. Triple jump final: 1.Balwan Singh Northern, 11.48m; 2.R N Dutt Central UP, 11.12m; 3.Banni Singh Central UP, 10.63m.

Anirudh shines
Fine batting by Anirudh Sehgal 65 not out helped Lintas score a facile nine-wicket win over MAA Group in the Media Transasia Cup at Gargi College.

Peltzer races
Rahul Shokeen CISF and Bhagwati Youth Club won the men8217;s and women8217;s events, respectively, in the weekly Reebok Otto Peltzer road races. Sanjay GB and Sharmila SMG were the winners in senior boys and senior girls category while Yogesh BSV and Promila SMG emerged winners among junior boys and girls.

Sonnet move up
Fine batting by Delhi Ranji batsman Aakash Chopra 75: 4215;4 helped Sonnet beat Madras Club by three runs in the inaugural Davinder Singh memorial tournament at Jamia grounds.

YMCA volleyball
Prasanth Club beat Dhaka Sports 15-12, 14-16, 15-5, 15-8 in the second Delhi state invitation volleyball tournament. Other winners included jaunti Club, LIC, Northern Railway, Air Force and JDM.
