Mumbai to host Autocross for four-wheelers on Feb 22

The Maruti Autocross for four wheelers gets underway at the National Sports Club of India NSCI on February 22. A record 135 entries have been received this year.

Defending champion Sam Katgara would be chasing his fifth successive men8217;s and overall crown and is very much a firm favourite here. Zoru Bhathena, Neville Poonawala, Saleel Sheth, Kalpesh Vora, Zakkir Ahmed, Farad, Kanti Bhanushli and Bhavin Shah are among others to watch out in the men8217;s section.

In the absence of Navaz Bhathena, the fastest woman driver and third overall last year, Renuka Kriplani looks all set to storm the women8217;s scene. However Renuka can expect some stiff challenge from the likes of Bhavna Jhaveri, Mamta Vora, Shaneen Dastur, Maharukh Katrak and Leena Shah.

The Autocross is a time trial event where the participants will have to negotiate a specially prepared winding dirt course and will be timed to the hundredth of a second.
