One-day rapid chess tourney
The Gokuldham Chess Club will hold an one-day Open Rapid Chess tournament on February 22. The tournament will be conducted for under-12, under-18 and Open categories. The entry fee is Rs 100. A cash award of Rs 1,000 will be presented to the winner of the Open event. Entries will be accepted at the Monginis Shop Samrat Enterprises, Goregaon East, close to the Goregaon Railway Station and by M Lawrence Sahayadass, Flat 28, Bldg 85, Gokuldham, Goregaon East, till 6 p.m. on February 15.
Ten entries for Vintage ally
The first car to win an international rally, Vijay Mallya8217;s 1934 Pierce Arrow, will be among the others participating in the Mumbai-Pune Vintage Car Rally. The cars will start from Express Towers on February 14 and will join the Fiesta that starts from Hotel Blue Diamond in Pune on February 15. Ten entries have been confirmed so far.
Badminton coaching at Andheri
The Shahaji Raje Bhosale Kreeda Sankul Andheri SportsComplex will be conducting badminton coaching for boys and girls between the age-group of 7 to 16 from February 10 to April 30, with a view to prepare trainees for the final selection to get entry into a National-level academy. Entries are limited and by selection only not more than 50 children will be admitted. Last date for submission of application form is February 7.
Taekwondo Nationals at RCF
The Independence Cup National-level Taekwondo Championship, which is open only to Black and Red Belts, will be held at the Rashtriya Chemicals Fertilizers Sports Complex at 3 p.m. on February 7 and 8. About 200 competitors are expected to take part.
Catholic Gymkhana snooker
An Open handicap snooker Tournament for the Anthony D8217;Cruz Trophy will be held at the Catholic Gymkhana, Marine Lines, from February 23 to March 29. Entries close on February 17.
