Cricketers, TT stars in novel doubles play
The Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Table Tennis Festival will feature leading Indian cricketers and paddlers pitting their skills in a novel doubles play on July 28.
The concept is the brainchild of Vilas Menon, the former India No 1 TT player. The table tennis players in the fray are: former National champions Niraj Bajaj and S Sriram, Sujay Ghorpade, S Ramaswamy, Atul Parikh, BK Arunkumar, Suhas Kulkarni and Menon himself. Kamlesh Mehta, the oft-crowned former National champion, is unavilable because of coaching commitments outside the city.
Each cricketer will team up with a table tennis player in the tournament, which, says Menon, 8220;is basically to promote TT in the city.8221; Sporting celebs from various fields are likely tograce the occasion.
