
ISP to adopt Priyanka
The Indian Squash Professionals ISP has adopted one more player, up-and-coming Priyanka Yadav, into their fold to be given intensive coaching in keeping with its objective of 8220;promoting the game in every possible way.8221; Priyanka, the daughter of Mumbai8217;s Additional Commissioner of Police traffic SPS Yadav, was a late entrant to the game of squash after cutting her teeth in two other raquet sports badminton and tennis. It was only last year that the 17-year-old Priyanka started playing squash and immdiately caught attention by grabbing the fifth spot in the national under-19 girls rankings, according to an ISP release.
Cricket tour of England
Sport and Leisure Promotion Trust, Mumbai, is organising a three-week cricket tour of England from August 7 to 28, playing about 15 matches in and around Bristol, Gloucester. Outstanding cricketers could get a chance to play for English clubs and take part as a semi-professional foreign player for a club in local Englandtournaments. Inter-School TT
The first Inter-School tournament of the Mumbai Suburban District Table Tennis Association, will be held at the New Community Centre, Anushakti Nagar, Chembur.
The competition will be conducted by DAE Sports and Cultural Council and BARC Staff Club, under the auspices of the Mumbai Suburban District Table Tennis Association from July 15 to 18. Forms will be available from July 7 and entries close on July 12. Draws will be displayed at the venue on July 14.
Referees course
The Bombay Football Referees Association will be conducting a new referees course under Alex Vaz, former FIFA referee/instructor, at the Little Flower School, Marine Lines E, from July 5 to 15. Award for Ami
Junior basketball player Ami Momaya will be presented the Kutch-Shakti sports award at a function on July 14 at Patkar Hall.
