From the medieval charm and romance of the narrow streets of Dariba, to the glamour and neon lights of South Ex Part I, Beliram Naulakha Silver Arts BNSA has made a smooth and successful transition. 8220;We have been wholesale traders of silverware since 1952 and this unique outlet marks our foray into the domestic retail market,8221; says Rajat Jain, great-grandson of Beliram and manager of the new outlet.
The classy showroom has already made its presence felt and is one of the most reputed places in Delhi to buy your silver from. Besides an endless array of silverware, they also offer a full-fledged range of exquisite gold and diamond jewellery. As you inspect the collection of handcrafted, ethnic, traditional kundan sets and designer jewellery in gold and silver, Jain proclaims, 8220;We can replicate any design taken from any catalogue available under the sun with at least 90 per cent accuracy.8221; He displays a meticulously crafted, rose-shaped, diamond-studded brooch, a rather intricate design duplicated from a catalogue. The hands behind the master craftsmanship at BNSA comprise a team of about a 100 karigars, from a cluster of cottage industries located in and around Delhi, pursuing a craft that has been in their family for generations. Some of the exquisite pieces in silverware are no less than objet d8217;art.
If you8217;re worried about the price, every cloud has a silver lining not everything is out of reach with items available for as little as Rs 400. The range includes tea/coffee sets, dinner sets, centre-pieces, salvers, glass holders, card holders, flower vases, ashtrays, bracelets, brooches, necklaces, minuscule lockets and rings, as well as special corporate packages. You can find something for everyone 8212; even the babies 8212; like the cute feeding sets with Mickey Mouse peering back at you!
Some of the artifacts are very intriguing 8212; like a hookah which actually works, a pineapple-shaped box with silver leaves, an artistic hand-fan, a two-and-a-half kilo kalash and mandirs in antique designs. Also, there are shimmering wall mirrors, coins with Queen Victoria or King Edward embossed on them, ornate handis and beautiful murtis of all the deities. Even more enchanting are the multi-purpose boxes resembling turbans of Mughal courtiers and imperial crowns of yore. They also cater to special requests, like the unique and stunning pan-daan created for a customer who wanted it shaped like a Rolls Royce!
As for the rest, besides a complete range of gold necklaces, ear rings and bracelets, they also offer contemporary diamond jewellery sets in white gold. Imported 22-carat gold jewellery and electro-formed gold murtis are a special attraction. Jain informs, 8220;Plans for a web-site are under way and it will be ready by next year with almost 2000 photographs.8221; Located at F-21, South Ex Part-1, the showroom is open from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:30 am and 7:30 pm.
