Sherpur move up

CHANDIGARH, Aug 23: Kalewal Bhagtan, Sherpur, Bhunno, Mehna and Barian Kalan villages entered the pre-quarterfinals of the 18th Punjab Rural Junior soccer tournament, after recording wins in their first round matches being played at village Nangal Khilarian yesterday.

Kalewal Bhagtan beat Jaitpur 5-0 after leading 2-0 at half time. Mehna beat Maili 1-0 while Sherpur edged out Gogrow 4-3. In another match, Barian Kalan beat Nangal Khurd 3-2 while Bhunno defeated Mukhomazara 3-1 in the last match of the day.

Wrestlers for Tehran
A six-member Indian wrestling team has been named for the World Senior wrestling championship being held at Tehran in Iran from September 8 to September 11.

P R Sondhi and Partap Singh would accompany the team as coaches.
