CALCUTTA, APRIL 9: Noted Hindi film director Govind Nihalani, actor Chiranjeet and actress Jaya Bachhan have been nominated by the Critic’s Club of India for the `Seva’ award for the year 1999, CCI secretary Amitava Ghosh said here today.

While Nihalani would be given the award for his contribution to the Hindi movies as a filmmaker, Bengali movie star Chiranjeet and Hindi film actress Jaya Bachhan have been nominated for their contributions to the cine world, Ghosh said.

He said the lifelong devotion and contribution to respective spheres had been taken into consideration by a panel of judges while deciding about the nominations for the award.

Nominees for the CCI award included Nana Patekar, Shabana Azmi, Rituparna Sengupta, Tarun Majumder (film), Parveen Sultana, Irsad Khan (both classical singers), Anup Ghosal Dwijen Mukherjee (both singers), Pandit Sohanlal Sharma (instrumentalist-harmonium), Sangita Chaki (dancer-Bharat Natyam), Debasis Chattopadhyay, Pratip Roy (both journalists), Sanjukta Singha (news reader) and Moti Nandi (litterateur), he added.
