
MANSA, Oct 29: The Maur police have booked a self-styled doctor Swaran Parkash Garg, who was running a clinic 8211; Garg Nursing Home at Maur, in Bathinda district.
A criminal case under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 153 of the Indian Medical Counsel Act 1956 has been registered at the Maur police station. Garg, claimed to be MD had been practising in the name of one Dr Vijay Kumar, MBBS, who was never seen in the clinic, they added.
Avtar Singh said that he pretended to be a patient and visited Garg8217;s clinic where the 8220;doctor8221; asked him to undergo various tests at a laboratory. The prescription slips carried the doctor8217;s name with a post-graduate degree MD AD.
Hardev Singh and Nachhattar Singh alleged that they had been misguided by a middleman who said that Garg was an experienced doctor. The two were consequently cheated by the doctor, they added.
The Civil Surgeon, Bathinda, has conducted an inquiry in this regard. According to the FIR, samples of medicine from Garg8217;s clinic were taken during a raid.
The SSP, Bathinda, ordered the Maur police station in-charge to register a case against Garg who has been arrested.
