
ANANDPUR SAHIB, Feb 23: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the proposed visit of Union Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi here tomorrow.
Dr. Joshi, who is also the chairman of the implementation committee of the Khalsa tercentenary celebrations will review the preparations for the event scheduled to be held here in April, 1999. The meeting to be held at the Dashmesh Academy here is to be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is also the vice chairman of the committee.
Although three other Union Ministers, including Surjit Singh Barnala, Parmod Mahajan and George Farnandes are also expected, no official confirmation is available to this effect.
Among others expected are some Delhi-based Sikh intellectuals and Communist Party of India Marxist leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet. An official spokesman revealed that invitations have been sent to all the prominent members of the national level Khalsa Tercentenary Celebrations Committee, including Surjeet. Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are also expected. The chief administrators of Anandpur Sahib Urban Development Authority ASUDA Vini Mahajan disclosed that Joshi would pay obeisance at Gurdwara Takht Kesgarh Sahib here, besides holding a meeting to review the progress of various celebration programmes.
All prominent leaders would be brought here by air and are likely to visit various project sites, she said.
