Sec 15 resident held for theft

CHANDIGARH, Dec 16: Sector 15 resident Surjit Kaur has been arrested for allegedly committing theft in a house here.

According to the police, Sector 18 resident Ishwar Singh had alleged in his complaint that the accused wanted to rent a room in his house and when he refused, the accused sneaked into the room and made off with Rs 5 lakh in cash.

Police sources said that accused Surjit Kaur, alias Paramjit Kaur, was arrested from her residence in Sector 15 and Rs 1.42 lakh in cash was recovered from her possession.

The Sector 19 police has registered a case under Section 380 of the IPC.
