The Rotary Club of Pune Metro has organised 8216;Science Fest 20088217; at the Institute of Engineers, Shivaginagar, on December 20-21. The fest will focus on creating awareness about science among students and the many exciting opportunities in the field.
The science festival will provide a chance to explore how the science interacts with natural and human environment. The various activities in the project will give students a platform to display their creative skills, stated a press release.
The programme was started in 1998 as a single day model making competition of working models. With the overwhelming response, the activity gained momentum over the years with increase in participation.
The activity is supported by Indian Association of Physics Teachers IAPT from the beginning. Nearly 500 students participate and over 5000 visitors witness the science week events. The various activities conducted during the project include science quiz competitions, exhibitions, essay contest, distribution of scholarhships and lecture series by eminent scientists, among others. Vivek Sawant, managing director of Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited MKCL and Dr Suresh Naik, Former Group Director ISRO will be guest speakers. Dr. Naik will talk on 8220;Indian Voyage to the Moon8221;.
