School: A happy place

CHANDIGARH, April 15: Nursery teachers at Panchkula8217;s Hans Raj Public School gave their students a warm welcome on their first day of school. Teachers costumed as a postman and chef amused the children with songs and poems. The class teacher introduced herself to parents and explained what the school expected of them and their child.

After the introduction, the children were led into their toy-filled playroom where they spent a hour exploring, playing and watching cartoons on the school8217;s multi-media system.

8220;The idea is to make school a happy place for these small children; they should happily leave their parents8217; laps and spend the day with their teachers,8221; school principal Rajni Thareja said. Until April 20 the children will attend school with their parents. Thereafter the regular time-table will be followed.

Seminar
A two-day seminar on Micro Teaching Skills was held in Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36-B here today. The seminar was inaugurated by professor J. N. Joshi.
