Saurashtra draw with Mumbai, bag three points

Saurashtra today secured three points in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy Under-22 cricket tournament although their match against Mumbai ended in a draw here.

Replying to Saurashtra8217;s imposing total of 754 in the first innings, Mumbai picked up from an overnight score of 351 for five only to get wrapped up for 473 runs on the fourth and final day.

Saurashtra8217;s Bhavik Gor bagged four wickets for 82, while Saurya Sanandiya took three wickets for 104. The hosts preferred not to enforce the follow on to Mumbai and decided to bat again. At the close of the match, Saurashtra were 63 for 3 in 29 overs.

Earlier in the day, Bhavik and Saurya put up a creditable show with J Odedara two for 79 and Balkrishna Jadeja one for 113 playing supportive roles as the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

For Mumbai, Aditya Tare 53 and Sachin Wagh 65 tried to arrest the downfall but the other batsmen, barring Rohan Raje 27, failed to deliver.

In the second innings, Saurashtra managed to pile up 63 for three in 29 overs before the match ended. Mumbai8217;s S Raje, R Singh and I Abdulla bagged one wicket each.

Saurashtra will play their remaining two matches against Baroda and Gujarat next month.
