NEW DELHI, December 15:Satnam Singh of Satyawati Evening College excelled in the 56 kg weight category in the Delhi Unviersity inter-college powerlifting championship which concluded at Motilal Nehru College here today.

Satnam Singh earned the gold medal and emerged on top in squat, bench press and dead-lift with 155 kg, 95.2 kg, 180 kg with a total of 427.5 kg. Mahesh Kumar of Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences and Deepak Gautam of Deshbandhu Evening College were placed second total 342.5 kg and third total 325 kg, respectively.

Motilal Nehru College won the team title, totalling 21 points. Satyawati Eve College took the second place with 12 points and Deshbandhu Eve finished third with four points.

Motilal Nehru College claimed five gold and two silver medals. They are: Gold medal winners: Ajit Kumar 67.5 kg, Vinod Kumar 75 kg, Shyam Singh 82.5 kg, Surinder Kumar 90 kg and Naveen Sachdeva 110 kg. Vinod Kumar was declared the Strong Man8217; of Delhi University.
