Sasan power project delay, panel seeks action

Unhappy with the delays in the Sasan ultra mega power project UMPP the Parliamentary Standing Committee on power has said that responsibilities be fixed and 8220;stern8221; action taken against those responsible for the delay in awarding the contract.

The 4000-mw Sasan project, the first UMPP to be awarded by the government, has been mired by controversy after a change in the lead partner8212;Globleq Singapore being sold off by the parent company. Ever since the change in ownership and issues related to alleged mis-representation of financial facts, the Power Ministry has sought legal opinion on the matter, which is now before the Central Vigilance Commission CVC.
