CHANDIGARH, July 7: Sameer Bhalla began his campaign with style in the semifinal league stage in the ongoing first Vishnu Pal Singh Memorial prize money snooker tournament played at Billiards Coaching Centre, Sector 22 today. Sameer scored a 4-2 victory over Kamal Kant to keep alive his hopes of bagging the title.
Up and coming Sameer, after winning the first two frames 69-29, 56-50, had to encounter a hostile situation in the third and fifth frames. But he showed his control over cue ball and with fine potting bagged the fourth and sixth frame to emerge victorious.
On the other hand Kamal shone in patches, pocketing the third 58-38 and again the fifth 61-19. But for being tense in the sixth frame the outcome of the match might have been different. In the decider, Kamal started well but missed a few easy pottings giving way to his less experienced opponent as the match progressed 62-37.
Going by the current form Kamal might have to pull up his sleeves in his next two league matches to remain in fray for the title.
