Prime Minister Manmohan Singh convened a meeting at his residence soon after the serial blasts in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil and senior officials. After the meeting, Patil said a high profile team comprising Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and himself would be leaving for Mumbai tonight.

All states have been put on high alert and the special secretary in charge of internal security G S Rajagopal has spoken to authorities concerned in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata.

Earlier, Home Ministry officials said Jammu and Kashmir Police had sufficient leads on the grenade attacks and the perpetrators would soon be brought to book. Duggal said 8216;8216;vagabonds or criminals8217;8217; were used to trigger the blasts that left as many as seven dead and 31 injured.

A special flight has been arranged to transport the bodies and the injured to their places of origin. They added that the peace process in the state would not be hampered by these incidents and the confidence building measures with Pakistan would continue.
