Salesman robbed, 3 held

July 26: Three persons were arrested on Monday on charges of robbing a salesman of gold and cash worth around Rs 11 lakh.

Ramesh Gulwade, who works as a salesman with jeweller Waman Hari Pethe on Ranade Road at Dadar west, was waylaid by two persons while he was on his way home late on Sunday. The duo snatched the briefcase containing gold biscuits and cash valued around Rs 10,92,500 and fled.

Gulwade raised an alarm and one of the robbers was overpowered by members of the public. However, his accomplice managed to escape with the bag containing the booty.

Later, the arrested robber identified as Shankar Karbale led to the arrest of his accomplices Prakash Gangadar Bhandhane alias Peter and Vijay Patil, a tea stall owner who provided information about Gulwade8217;s movements to the duo. The police have recovered valuables worth Rs 10.5 lakh.
