RPF constable suspended for fasting on duty

CHENNAI, November 30: A Railway Protection Force RPF constable was placed under suspension on Sunday after he allegedly staged a fast during duty hours to protest against being marked absent on his rest day.

Railway sources said the constable P. Audhi 35, working at RPF post at Southern Railway General Manager8217;s office, did not report for duty on Saturday as it was a 8220;rest8221; day for him.

When he reported for duty on Sunday, he noticed that he was marked absent on his rest day. When he enquired with his seniors, he was told that he was asked to come on the rest day due to 8220;emergency8221; situation.
