Roving eye

Last week all our Mumbai models were in Delhi because of the fashion shows. It seems the talk ofthe town in the capital was Tarun Tahilani8217;s show. This Mumbai boy moved to Delhi over a year ago, and for the first time he will not be holding a show in this city. Instead Tina Tahiliani-Parikh hosted a special preview at Ensemble for all their regular clients. His show was called Spontaneity. 3 models walked down a 300 feet ramp that was shaped like a snake. And over 100 outfits were on display. There was a wide range of designs on display 8212; from a kimino inspired coat to net embroidered shararas. Everyone who went to the show was raving about it including the show choreographer Mehr Jesia-Rampal. So it is a shame that Mumbai will not have a chance to see the show, as last year Tarun8217;s show in Mumbai did not meet up to his usual standards.

Another show that was the talk of the town was Ashish Soni8217;s held last week. On the ramp were Marc Robinson, Ujwala Raut, Helen Brodie, Nina Manuel and Sheetal Malhar. And in attendance were all Delhi8217;s best known designers from Bobby Grover toRina Dhaka. At the end of the show all the designers got on to the ramp with Ashish, in a show of solidarity. The western collection was better than the traditional Indian collection. And the main colour was predictable black. There was no one trend going through the collection as shirt lengths varied from ankle length to the micro mini. For the men8217;s suits Ashish decided to do away with buttons and used alternative fastening such as zips. And after the show all the Delhi socialites stayed down and partied till the wee hours of the morning.

Suburbs socialites

Over the long weekend the place to be at was Club Abyss, on Thursday night. This city8217;s party animals from both the suburbs and town headed to this Bandra club to party the night away. Among those there were Kamlesh Shah, Marc Robinson, Sumeet Chopra, Kishen Mulchandani and Svetlana Casper. And then again on Saturday night Club Abyss was bursting to the seams with some of the most known names from the world of glamour. This time there was anoccasion to celebrate, the third anniversary of the Juhu store, Chez run by Sonali Nanavaty and Rita Gohil. The designs included Rocky S, Bhairavi Jaikishen and Sangeeta Desai, as well as handsome hunks Jas Arora and Bickram Saluja and glamourous gals Anjala Zaveri and Diandra Soares.

Rashmi and Uday Singh hosted a party to celebrate the success of Shobha De8217;s new book Selective Memories

, and with the invite came a T-shirt with Shobha8217;s book cover on it. And a lot of the invitees opted to wear the T-shirt including Dilip De and all Shobha8217;s children as well as Ravi Dubey, Manya Jethmalani, Rashmi and Neerja Shah. Shobha herself decided to turn the T-shirt into a sari blouse, and wore it with a black sari. The pani puri nite was held at Magna House with Nari Hira tending to all the guests. And many media types turned up to congratulate Shobha, including Anish Trevedi, Anil Dharker, Bachi and Ayaz Menon. And making a guest appearance were Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt.

The Society exhibition has become an annual event in this city, but this year Magna decided to hold a similar exhibition in Pune. Opened by Society8217;s first editor Shobha De, a lot of beautiful people from the city were spotted having a look at the goodies available in Pune. Among those seen there were Raveena Tandon, Mehr and Arjun Rampal, Mehnaaz and Jackie Shroff. So it seems that our celebs enjoy being away from the city and shopping away from home.
